Fr. George Reynolds, O.P.
50 years a priest; 'I have loved every minute of it'
Born April 23, 1931 in Chicago. Fr. george lived most of his youth in
the Chicago suburbs. He joined the Dominican Order in 1951 after years
at Loras College, Dubuque, Iowa. He was ordained a priest on May 23,
1959. Previous apostolates have included high school and university
teaching, pastor, counselor, in various states: New Mexico, Texas,
Georgia, Louisiana, Arizona, Minnesota, and Colorado.
The Land of Enchantment has always had a strong hold on him: this is
the 4th time he have moved into the state which has always fascinated
him.
Many interesting things have happened here, such as the time a choir
girl got her hair set on fire at the Easter Vigil. Having Choir Girl
Flambé certainly added a certain interest for the community. But it
would be unfair to compare the present with the past since time has
taken its toll on all of us, and I have lived in several states between
assignments in New Mexico. No two places have ever been the same for me
and I have learned a great deal in every place I have ever been. Now
that I am back in Albuquerque, I hope to learn much more from the people
here at Newman in the 21st century.
